The 17-29 San Diego Padres only have five away wins all year. Thursday's clash with the 24-21 New York Mets was one of them outscoring NY 11-5 at Citi Field.
The Mets managed the first run of the ballgame during the second inning, but SD responded with the next six beginning with Will Venable's RBI-double. The Padres also scored on two Cameron Maybin singles, Jesus Guzman's double and another Venable double. New York knocked in two runs during the bottom of the sixth on David Wright's home run to inch within three runs.
